PNG or JPG?
PNG keeps every detail and see-through parts, but the files are big. JPG is much smaller and is what most sites, emails and forms want. Anything see-through in your PNG turns white, because JPG can't be see-through. Drop the pictures in, then save them one by one or all together as a zip.
How to use it
- Drop your PNG pictures onto the box, or press Choose photos.
- Each one is converted straight away and shows a preview with its new size.
- Press Save for one file, or Save all as one zip.
- Send or upload the JPGs, which are usually much smaller than the PNGs.
Questions people ask
Why is the JPG so much smaller?
PNG keeps every pixel exactly, which makes big files. JPG throws away tiny details the eye barely notices, so photos usually shrink a lot. Look at the sizes shown on each card to see the saving.
What happens to the see-through areas of my PNG?
JPG cannot be see-through, so those areas turn white. To keep them see-through, keep the PNG or turn it into a WebP with PNG to WebP.
Is JPG always better?
Not always. For photos, JPG is the better choice. For screenshots, logos and pictures with small text or sharp edges, PNG often looks crisper, and a JPG can look slightly fuzzy around the letters.
Can I choose the JPG quality?
This page saves at high quality. If you want a smaller file, drop the result into Compress photo and use the slider.
Are my pictures uploaded?
No. The conversion happens on your own device.
